About OYEN

In the Fall of 2020, Oregon faced unprecedented devastation from wildfires, leaving a lasting impact on communities across the state. In response to this crisis emerged the OYEN Emotional Wellness Center, with a clear vision: to establish Oregon's premier Latino, bilingual, and bicultural mental health center, offering direct support to communities in crisis and pioneering innovative mental health solutions.

OYEN is dedicated to embracing the diverse mental health needs within our communities, with a commitment to breaking down barriers to care, upholding the belief in universal access, and equality to mental health services.

Today, OYEN is one of just four female-owned, person-of-color-led clinics in the nation dedicated to serving the entirety of Oregon. With an understanding of how rare it is for our Latino community to receive services in both mental and behavioral health in their native language, we offer culturally tailored services for the Spanish-speaking community with our licensed behavioral health therapists who are bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural.

Since our launch, OYEN has made a profound impact statewide, responding to crises and providing vital mental health support to vulnerable communities when they need it most. Our behavioral health therapists are committed to serving as a beacon of hope and healing for all Oregonians, fostering resilience and well-being across the state.

Our Vision

A world where mental health care services are fully accessible and equitable for everyone.

Our Mission

Improve the quality of life of our diverse communities by providing:

• Trauma-informed culturally competent and responsive mental health care services.

• Community-tailored bicultural and linguistically specific, responsive, and strategic programming.

• Reducing access barriers to care through advocacy and capacity building.

• Challenging mental health stigma through cultural shift work.

• Growing and supporting our own pipeline of future therapists.

Our Values

Dignity

  • Recognizing and honoring the intrinsic worth of each individual, regardless of their background, challenges, or circumstances. This means treating every client with the utmost care and consideration, ensuring that they feel valued and important.

  • Providing services in a way that empowers clients, supporting their journey towards healing and personal growth. This includes acknowledging their strengths and capabilities, and helping them build resilience and self-esteem.

  • Recognizing the dignity of each culture and its unique values. This involves understanding and respecting cultural differences and integrating this awareness into therapy and interactions with clients.

Respect

  • Showing deep respect for the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of clients. This means actively listening, seeking to understand, and tailoring approaches to meet the unique needs of each individual.

  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism in all interactions, which includes confidentiality, ethical practice, and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care.

  • Engaging respectfully with the community, understanding its dynamics, and working collaboratively to address mental health issues in a way that honors and respects community values and traditions.

We Say Yes

  • Embodying a can-do attitude towards meeting client needs. This means striving to remove barriers to care, being flexible in scheduling, and ensuring that services are readily accessible.

  • Focusing on finding ways to support and assist clients, rather than turning them away due to systemic barriers or resource limitations. This includes being innovative and resourceful in providing care.

  • Believing in the potential of every individual to overcome challenges and grow. “We say yes” reflects an optimistic outlook that every person can achieve mental well-being with the right support.
